'Good' ratings from the CQC for two of our Learning Disability Services

At the beginning of the year Southdown's learning disability services at Wynford House, Seaford and Mill Lane, Portslade were rated as ‘Good’ following inspections by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Of Wynford House, the Inspector said that clients were encouraged to live as independently as possible. They observed clients being cared for in a person centred way and said that their care plans were fully reflective of their needs, preferences and interests. They said that clients were supported to have maximum choice and control in their lives and that their dignity and privacy were protected. A client told the inspectors “I feel really safe and secure here, it’s a lovely place”.

And at Mill Lane, the Inspector’s verdict was that staff are kind and caring and respected the dignity and privacy of the clients they support. One staff member told them “I love working here. The people are wonderful”. The inspectors commented on the full and active lives the clients are able to live and how they are supported to be as involved as possible in expressing their views about their care and support.
