Seamstresses Sew For Southdown
Since the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, Southdown has been reaching out to the local community for support in securing PPE for our frontline housing, care and support staff.
Most recently, we have been overwhelmed by the kindness shown to us by the organisers and volunteers at Sew Sussex who have made beautiful hearts and headbands for our clients and staff in our Learning Disability Support services.
The hearts come in pairs so that a client can keep one and send the other to a relative or friend they can’t see due to the lockdown restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic.
The headbands will help ease chafing at the ears when our staff wear PPE masks as the mask elastic can hook onto the buttons rather than around our Support Workers' ears.
Clients in our services have been making thank you cards to this group of amazing volunteers across Sussex.
Our Brighton and Hove and East Sussex Regional Manager for Learning Disability Support says,
"It’s lovely to see appreciation from people in the local community, who have spent their time making things for us to use. We are very grateful to them for their time and kindness."
