Southdown Court - One Year On

Southdown Court

This September, Southdown Court, our Supported Living service in Brighton for people with learning disabilities, celebrated its one year anniversary.

Ella Arnardottir, Regional Manager for our Learning Disability Services in East Sussex and Brighton and Hove, tells us how the service has fared during its first year,

“It took an incredible amount of hard work to design and transform two old care homes into the six specially designed, self-contained flats we have today. Since the service launched a year ago, the hard work has continued. There have been ups and downs, highs and lows, as was to be expected in a new service with unique features, but the Southdown spirit of positive learning and teamwork has carried us through.

Establishing a new service is not easy. The team have been remarkable - keeping clients safe and happy in their homes during a pandemic was never in the plans and staff have had to be creative and thoughtful in coming up with new routines and activities.

I’d like to thank our Positive Behaviour Support Team, who have worked closely with the service to provide additional support.”

The service is currently recruiting Support Workers. For details, please visit our Jobs Site here.
