Employment support for adults living in East Sussex who are using Health in Mind, the local NHS Talking Therapies service.
Work in Mind is a free service providing employment-related support for adults accessing East Sussex Health in Mind’s mental health services.
Our Employment Specialists provide tailored support and guidance to help you progress towards your work aspirations and overcome any barriers you are facing.
The service works in partnership with East Sussex Health in Mind so that we can offer people accessing psychological therapies the opportunity to receive specialist employment support at the same time.
Work in Mind is identified as an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service.
What does the service provide?
We provide one to one support to help you:
- Secure or retain paid work
- Secure voluntary work and work experience as a stepping-stone to achieving paid employment
- Explore education, qualifications and courses
How does the service work?
You will receive one to one support from an Employment Specialist to create a ‘journey to work plan’ tailored to your needs and interests.
This is followed by a rapid job search, support throughout the recruitment process and, once in work, ongoing support for both you and your employer.
My course of therapy finished a week early as I have made such strides in rebuilding who I am. I am still engaged with Work In Mind, on a weekly basis, and my adviser is simply fantastic at what she does!
I've had jobs brought to mind which I wouldn't have considered and the little nudges and encouragements have kept my motivation high, resulting in a record week of six job interviews, and two promising leads

Am I eligible?
The service is for adults living in East Sussex who are experiencing common mental health challenges, such as anxiety and depression, and are accessing Health in Mind services.
How do I apply?
We accept referrals from Health in Mind teams only. Please speak to your Health in Mind practitioner or clinician who can refer you directly to us.
