Building apprenticeship pathways at Southdown

Posted on 9 February 2026

To kick off National Apprenticeship Week, we’re delighted to introduce Anna Burgess, our new Apprenticeships and Qualifications Lead. Anna has joined Southdown at an exciting time, as we continue to strengthen our commitment to learning, development, and creating meaningful career pathways for colleagues across the organisation.

Below, Anna shares plans for the year ahead:

As we mark Apprenticeship Week, I’m delighted to introduce myself as the new Apprenticeship and Qualifications Lead. I’m thrilled to be stepping into this role at such an exciting time, as we continue strengthening our commitment to developing talent, building skills, and creating clear pathways for career growth across our organisation.

Over the coming months, we’ll be launching a refreshed range of apprenticeships designed to support both new and existing staff. These programmes will span a variety of levels and disciplines, ensuring there are meaningful opportunities for people at every stage of their professional journey.

Our aim is simple: to empower colleagues to grow, gain recognised qualifications, and build the confidence and capability they need to thrive. I’m looking forward to working with teams across the organisation to bring these opportunities to life and to champion a culture where learning and development truly flourish. Here’s to an exciting year ahead, and to celebrating the difference apprenticeships can make for individuals and for our organisation as a whole.”
