Social Tenants Access to Information Requirements scheme (STAIRs)

Social Tenants Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs) – Publication scheme

What is STAIRs?

The Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements, known as STAIRs, have been introduced to make it easier for social housing tenants to access information about their landlord and housing services.

STAIRs is about greater openness and transparency. It gives you clearer access to information about how we manage our homes and housing services, how decisions are made and how we are performing.

This information can help you understand what you can expect from us as your landlord and hold us to account for the homes and services we provide. This reflects the purpose of the government requirements, which are intended to improve access to housing information and strengthen accountability to tenants.

Our STAIRs publication scheme

From 1 October 2026, Southdown is required to proactively publish certain information about how we manage our social housing. We have brought this information together through our STAIRs publication scheme.

Much of this information is already available across our website. Rather than repeat it here, we have organised it under the STAIRs information categories below, with links to the relevant pages and documents.

We will review this information regularly so that it remains accurate and up to date, and we will add or update information as needed. Regular review and updating is specifically required under the publication scheme.

On this page, you can find information about:

Information requests

From April 2027, you will have a legal right to request information from us about how we manage your home and the services we provide. This new right is there to make our services more transparent and easier for you to understand.

We are currently developing our process for handling these requests and will share more details about how to make one ahead of April 2027.
