About the service

Southdown’s Preston Park Recovery Centre (part of the Community Roots network) provides a welcoming and supportive environment in which people with mental health support needs can learn new skills and get involved in a variety of groups and activities.

The Centre also provides access to a specialist employment service, a welfare benefits service and can refer onto other services as appropriate such as housing and health.

Coronavirus Statement (19th July 2021 - Step 4 update)

At Southdown, we’re heeding the advice to proceed with caution and there will be no changes to our office and community work arrangements across the organisation until September at the earliest. This includes the continuation of social distancing and wearing of face coverings for staff and clients. Staff will also continue to take Lateral Flow Tests prior to attending one of our buildings or conducting any in-person work.
We are currently offering a mix of online and pre-booked in-person groups, and face-to-face support for registered clients whilst adhering to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) measures. Face-to-face support is only on a pre-booked basis; we are not yet able to offer drop-in support at the Centre.
We would encourage you to visit our social media pages for updates as well as useful resources and links:

Alternatively, if you have any urgent questions about your support or have an enquiry about the service please contact your Recovery Worker, or phone the main phone line on 01273 565 049.

What to expect

After referral to the centre, trained staff can help you develop your own personal Recovery Action Plan and support you to achieve the goals you set yourself.

Due to current Covid-19 restrictions we have limited access to one-to-one face-to-face sessions with Recovery Workers and in-person groups, with only people assessed as having essential needs being able to access the above. However we have a wide range of online groups on offer and telephone support available from Recovery Workers to support peoples mental health and wellbeing.

The Centre, either through virtual or physical means is a great place to meet friends or get to know new people and build your confidence and self-esteem.
