About the service

Southdown’s Preston Park Recovery Centre (part of the Community Roots network) provides a welcoming and supportive environment in which people with mental health support needs can learn new skills and get involved in a variety of groups and activities.

The Centre also provides access to a specialist employment service, a welfare benefits service and can refer onto other services as appropriate such as housing and health.

Coronavirus Statement (11th January 2021)

To best protect the safety of our clients and staff, we have changed the way support is provided by our Recovery Centre in order to adhere to the Government’s advice on social distancing and infection control.

In place of building-based and face-to-face support, our teams have been supporting clients over the phone and through online means.

Using covid-safety guidance, from November 2020 we have been able to offer registered clients who are assessed as needing essential support access to one-to-one appointments with a Recovery Worker and/ or access to small covid-safe indoor and outdoor groups. This is only on a pre booked basis, unfortunately we are not able to offer ad hoc support via attending the building.

We are regularly reviewing our service offer and when there are any changes to the support we provide, we will update this page. We would also encourage you to visit our social media pages for updates as well as useful resources and links:

In the meantime, if you have any urgent questions about your support, or have a new enquiry about our service, please contact us via phone or email using the contact details at the bottom of this page.

What to expect

After referral to the centre, trained staff can help you develop your own personal Recovery Action Plan and support you to achieve the goals you set yourself.

Due to current Covid-19 restrictions we have limited access to one-to-one face-to-face sessions with Recovery Workers and in-person groups, with only people assessed as having essential needs being able to access the above. However we have a wide range of online groups on offer and telephone support available from Recovery Workers to support peoples mental health and wellbeing.

The Centre, either through virtual or physical means is a great place to meet friends or get to know new people and build your confidence and self-esteem.
