Staying Well Brighton & Hove

About the service

Staying Well is an out-of-hours walk-in service for people aged 18 or over experiencing mental distress or requiring crisis support.

Open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, the service provides psychosocial support within a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment.

Please note: There may be times when due to staffing we may not be able to offer walk-ins. If this happens, we’ll let people know via the ‘Service Updates’ box at the top of this page. We’ll also share information about alternative ways you can get help. You can also give us a call before you visit.

Staying Well is provided by Southdown, in partnership with the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The Brighton & Hove service enhances the current mental health and wellbeing services delivered under the UOK Brighton & Hove network across the city. It is also one of five Staying Well services provided across Sussex.

What support is available?

Our safe space café provides a relaxed environment where you can gain peer and social support, to help you build skills to support your own recovery. Peer Support Workers (people with lived experience of mental health challenges) are also available to chat to.

Our team are on-hand to provide non-judgmental support tailored to your needs, whether that’s simply listening or supporting you to reduce emotional and psychological distress.

In this short video, Jason, Senior Service Manager, Jo, NHS Clinician, and Simon, Peer Support Worker, explain how Staying Well Brighton and Hove can support you in a mental health crisis:

Am I eligible?

The service is free and available for people aged 18 or over experiencing mental distress or requiring crisis support, who are living in or visiting Sussex.

Our service is not suitable to support adults with dementia, or children and adolescents under the age of 18.

How do I access support?

Support can be accessed by attending the service in person at The Wellbeing Hub at Preston Park in Brighton.

You can also give us a call before you visit, so we can answer any questions and discuss any additional support needs you may have. Telephone (Freephone): 0800 023 6475, choose option #3

Whilst a referral isn’t necessary, you can complete an online referral for yourself or on behalf of an individual by clicking here. A member of the team will then be in touch to provide more information about the service.

Please note: There may be times when due to staffing we may not be able to offer walk-ins. If this happens, we’ll let people know via the ‘Service Updates’ box at the top of this page. We’ll also share information about alternative ways you can get help.
