About the service

The Brighton & Hove Neighbourhood Wellbeing Service provides local mental health and wellbeing support in Brighton & Hove. It is designed to make it easier to access support when you need it.

The service is part of UOK, a partnership of organisations working together to support mental health and wellbeing across Brighton & Hove and East Sussex.

What support is available

You can access support in different ways. Whether you want to talk to someone, connect with others, or build skills, there are options to suit you.

  • Peer groups:
    Structured, time limited groups that bring together people experiencing similar mental health challenges or life situations.
  • Social spaces:
    Relaxed, welcoming sessions where you can spend time with others and feel part of a community.
  • Walk-in welcome sessions:
    Local sessions where you can drop in and talk to someone about support and next steps.
  • One to one support:
    Individual support to help you with practical things, your wellbeing, and finding the right services.
  • Education and learning:
    Opportunities to build confidence, understanding and skills to support your wellbeing.
  • Employment support:
    Support to help you prepare for, find and stay in work.
  • Crisis support:
    Access to urgent mental health support when you need it.

How to access support

We are not accepting referrals currently.

The Brighton & Hove Neighbourhood Wellbeing Service is available to adults, 18 and over, living in Brighton & Hove who are currently struggling with their mental health and wellbeing.

If you are struggling with your mental health right now, support is available through:

  • your GP
  • local NHS urgent mental health services
  • the Samaritans on 116 123, available 24 hours a day

If you are in immediate danger, please contact emergency services.

Qwell online support

You can access free, confidential online mental health and wellbeing support 24 hours a day through Qwell, our online support service.

With Qwell, you can:

  • read or watch helpful information
  • use tools like journaling and mood tracking
  • connect with others in moderated forums
  • message trained practitioners
  • access live text chat support

Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams (NMHTs)

This service is also a part of the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team approach, where NHS, GP, community and voluntary partners work together to offer joined-up support. Our focus is to help you get the right help, centred on what matters to you, without needing to retell your story or navigate multiple services.
