Southdown appoints new Chair of the Board to lead next phase of five-year strategy

Southdown has appointed Jonathan Senker as the new Chair of its Board, following a competitive recruitment process.

Jonathan joined Southdown’s Board in 2025 and will formally take up the position at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting in September 2026.

He will succeed Pauline Ford, who is stepping down after seven years of dedicated service on the Board, including four years as Chair.

Jonathan brings extensive leadership and governance experience, alongside a longstanding commitment to championing people’s rights, inclusion and opportunity. He will work closely with Chief Executive Neil Blanchard, fellow Board members and Southdown’s senior leadership team to support strong governance, long-term sustainability and the delivery of the organisation’s five-year strategy.

Southdown supports thousands of people across Sussex each year through housing, mental health, learning disability and homelessness services. Jonathan’s appointment comes as the organisation continues to respond to growing demand for safe housing and community-based support.

Jonathan said:
