About the service

Staying Well is a same day, out-of-hours service for people aged 18 or over experiencing mental distress or requiring crisis support.

Open seven days a week, 365 days a year, the service provides psychosocial support within a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment.

Please note: There may be times when we are unable to offer a same day service, we can advise you of our availability by telephone. We will also display service updates in a pink box at the top of this page.

Staying Well is provided by Southdown, in partnership with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The Eastbourne service enhances the current mental health and wellbeing services delivered under the UOK East Sussex network. It is also one of five Staying Well services provided across Sussex.

What support is available?

Our safe space café provides a relaxed environment where you can gain peer and social support, to help you build skills to support your own recovery. Peer Support Workers (people with lived experience of mental health challenges) are also available to chat with.

Our team are on-hand to provide non-judgmental support tailored to your needs, whether that’s simply listening or supporting you to reduce emotional and psychological distress.

Am I eligible?

The service is free and available for people aged 18 or over experiencing mental distress or requiring crisis support, who are living in or visiting Sussex.

Our service is not suitable to support adults with dementia, or children and adolescents under the age of 18.

How do I access support?

You can access same day support by calling us on the telephone number below. Alternatively, each time you want to access the service, you can complete an online referral for yourself or on behalf of an individual by clicking here.

Please note: There may be times when due to staffing or service capacity we may not be able to offer a same day service, we can advise you of our availability by telephone. We will also display service updates in a pink box at the top of this page.
