Join us for football, movement and good company this Mental Health Awareness Week
Posted on 28 April 2026
To mark this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, we’re starting with something simple: coming together.
On Monday 11 May, UOK is hosting a free football and wellbeing session in partnership with the Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation. The session takes place at Brighton Youth Centre Sports Hall from 10am to 12.30pm.
This isn’t about football ability. It’s about movement, connection, and creating space to feel a bit better. You’ll also be able to find out about local wellbeing support available across Brighton and Hove.
The session is free and open to all, whether you want to get active, meet others, or simply try something new.
When: Monday 11 May, 10am–12.30pm Where: Brighton Youth Centre Sports Hall Cost: Free. No registration required.
Mental Health Awareness Week: turning awareness into action
Mental Health Foundation leads Mental Health Awareness Week each year. This year, it will be running from 11 to 17 May.

The 2026 theme is Action.
It recognises that awareness on its own isn’t enough, it’s the small, meaningful steps we take, individually and together, that create real change.
At Southdown, this reflects what we see every day. Action can be a conversation. It can be reaching out for support. It can be taking a first step towards something that feels difficult.
Finding support in Sussex

If you or someone you know is looking for support, How Are You Really Feeling? is a good place to start.
How Are You Really Feeling? is a Sussex-wide resource that helps adults find free, confidential mental health support. It brings together clear signposting to local services based on how you are feeling, making it easier to know where to turn and when – without needing to know the right terminology or services in advance.
Mental Health Foundation resources
Free posters, social media assets and guidance on getting involved in Mental Health Awareness Week are available on the Mental Health Foundation website. Wear it Green Day on Thursday 14 May is one visible way to mark the week.
