Our housing

We provide different types of affordable housing from temporary accommodation to a long term home. As a supported housing landlord, we provide support for our tenants to help them manage their tenancy and maintain their home. In addition, around one in six of our tenants receive support from our learning disability support services.

To be eligible for a Southdown tenancy a person must be on the Housing Register with their Local Authority Housing Options team. We do not hold our own waiting list so cannot respond to direct enquiries about housing. When a property becomes available, the Local Authority will nominate an eligible person off their waiting list to become our next tenant.

Did you know? In 2022-23, we successfully supported 33 of our tenants to move onto independent living, enabling us to use our supported housing for other people that need it.

If you require the kind of supported housing that Southdown provides, you should make it clear to the Housing Options team that you consider yourself to require extra support. Details of how to apply for housing with the Local Authorities we work with are in the Useful Resources section of our website.

Tenant representative or advocate

If a nominee or a tenant wants their representative or advocate to be present or involved in discussions with us around the landlord services they receive then we are happy to work alongside anyone who they feel it would be helpful to have involved. If they want a representative or advocate to communicate with us on their behalf without them being present then we will require them to sign a permission form giving their consent for us to discuss their tenancy with their nominated representative.
