Staying Well Hastings
Open Access
Staying Well Hastings has moved from a ‘Same Day Access’ model to ‘Open Access’.
This change brings us in line with all other Staying Well services across Sussex.
What does this mean for you?
- You no longer need to call ahead to access the service.
- Simply arrive during our opening hours:
- Weekdays: from 5:00 PM – 10:30 PM
- Weekends: from 3:00 PM- 10:30 PM
- Ring the front door intercom, answer a few risk questions and then enter for support.
Please note:
- Open Access is only available when an SPFT clinician is present.
- If a clinician is not available, we will revert to the ‘Same Day Access’ model, and you will need to call ahead before attending.
We will keep this website updated so you always know whether the service is operating as Open Access or Same Day Access.

About the service
Staying Well Space is a out-of-hours walk-in service for people aged 18 or over experiencing mental distress or requiring crisis support.
Open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, the service provides psychosocial support within a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment.
Staying Well is provided by Southdown in partnership with the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
The Hastings service enhances the current mental health and wellbeing services delivered under the UOK East Sussex network. It is also one of five Staying Well services provided across Sussex.
Please note: We will display service updates in a pink box at the top of this page.
What support is available?
Our safe space café provides a relaxed environment where you can gain peer and social support, to help you build skills to support your own recovery. Peer Support Workers (people with lived experience of mental health challenges) are also available to chat with.
Our team are on-hand to provide non-judgmental support tailored to your needs, whether that’s simply listening or supporting you to reduce emotional and psychological distress.
We primarily offer face-to-face support: however, if you are unable to attend in person, we can provide support via video call using ‘Attend Anywhere’ or by telephone as an alternative.
Am I eligible?
The service is free and available to people aged 18 or over with urgent mental health support needs living across East Sussex.
Our service is not suitable to support adults with dementia, or children and adolescents under the age of 18.
How do I access support?
Support can be accessed by attending the service in person at St Leonards-On-Sea Wellbeing Centre, Carisbrooke House, Stockleigh Road, Hastings, TN38 0JP
You can also give us a call before you visit, so we can answer any questions and discuss any additional support needs you may have. Telephone (Freephone): 0800 023 6475, choose option #2
Whilst a referral isn’t necessary, you can complete an online referral for yourself or on behalf of an individual here. Please click here for our online referral form.
Please note: There may be times when due to staffing we may not be able to offer walk-ins. If this happens, we’ll let people know via the ‘Service Updates’ box at the top of this page. We’ll also share information about alternative ways you can get help.
An Easy Read version of our referral form is also available to download from the ‘Downloads’ section at the bottom of this page.
